Carbon Capture Facility Projects move forward!
5th March 2024
Weedon Architects are proud to announce our appointment to undertake architectural services for both Development Consent Orders (DCO) and detailed Planning Permissions on three Carbon Capture Facility Projects.
Our close collaboration with ENCYCLIS
(formerly Covanta) has led to our involvement in the detailed planning
application for a new Carbon Capture Facility capturing carbon from the
Protos Energy Recovery Facility, moving the project into the next stage
of the Government’s carbon capture funding programme and highlighting
the project's contribution towards decarbonisation and the UK's net-zero
goals.
The remaining two schemes are currently covered by NDAs but we look forward to sharing more details in the future.
The proposed CCS plant for Protos ERF will capture upwards of 380,000 tonnes of CO2 per year, utilising the planned HyNet pipeline for storage in depleted gas fields in Liverpool Bay.
We're thrilled to be part of this transformative project and look forward to contributing to the UK's journey towards a sustainable future.
