Riverside Energy Park – Cory Riverside Energy

18th September 2018

Weedon Architects are pleased to be involved in the Development Consent Order process for Riverside Energy Park, London for Cory Riverside Energy.

Continuing on the success of delivering Energy Recovery Facilities Weedon Architects has been appointed, working for HZI (Hitachi Zosen Inova), to design and deliver the proposed Energy Park which will complement Cory Riverside Energy’s existing Riverside Resource Recovery Facility which has been operating successfully since 2011.

Riverside Energy Park will divert a further c. 655,000 tonnes of non-recyclable waste away from landfill each year maximising the River Thames, Cory’s ‘green highway’, and minimising transportation by road.

The Energy Park will integrate a range of technologies including waste energy recovery, anaerobic digestion, solar panels, combined heat and power infrastructure and battery storage. The integrated electricity generating station will generate up to 96 megawatts of electricity capacity (MWe), that will supply low carbon renewable electricity to London for the equivalent of c.140,000 homes.

The application for development consent will be submitted during November 2018 with a proposed start on site of Spring 2021 with the Riverside Energy Park being fully operational in 2024.
