Planning approval granted for two-storey contemporary extenison to Grade II listed Hilton Cottage in Lincoln

18th May 2022

Constructed in red brick in the mid nineteenth century, this Grade II listed building sits in the heart of the City of Lincoln Conservation Area and is a prominent architectural feature within its immediate locale.

Contextual design has been the driving concept for the project. The solution is a modern interpretation of the traditional characteristics of the Cottage and the area’s vernacular.

The extension utilises the current unused spaces of the site and efficiently integrates the courtyard with the Cottage creating additional living spaces for the family. Externally, the design subtly echoes the surrounding architectural features and brings in valuable daylight to the cottage whilst maintaining privacy away from the street.
