Construction is progressing well at the Newhurst Energy Recovery Facility

The Newhurst Energy Recovery Facility, Leicestershire, is now onsite and progressing well. The new facility is being developed by Biffa, Covanta and EQT who are market leaders in the investment, development and operation of recycling and Energy-from-Waste facilities in the UK and around the world.
When completed in 2023, the facility will provide a vital outlet for the sustainable treatment of up to 350,000 tonnes of residual waste per year and will generate up to 42 megawatts of low carbon energy – enough to power around 80,000 homes.
